I believe everybody will agree that PPC is the best way to market a website, other than that can anybody list few alternative methods like email campaigns or others to market a website effectively, has anybody tried any innovative method which he would like to share?
There's better methods than ppc. Infact ppc is not that good at all unless you do it via the well know and reputable companies. Seo is on of the best, viral marketing is another good one.
I second SEO & Viral as being the best. You need patience and dedication for both though. PPC is simpler & gets you instant visitors.

Call me crazy...but I get quality hits with simple offline marketing tactics. I am and have always been a notorious business card dropper. I sell home business e-courses teaching others how I make money online....so over the years I've created crazy, off the wall "Make Money from Home" type business cards. I drop them in about every store I ever go in. With every $5 tip I ever leave...a card. Every pizza I ever get delivered I give the guy a card. The Uni-Mart lady probably has about 5, my plumber maybe 2 or 3. Everyone that I meet and talk to get a card. This has sold me quite a few marketing courses from the last people in the world you'd expect. I just make them unique off the wall and crazy....this draws people in. It depends on what your doing or what your trying to sell....but this works for some types of websites. JR

I agree. Infact many top IMers never use PPC. Its really costly method , plus you have to be really master in it to succeed. I have seen people spending $1500 to $2k without any real success. Article marketing works bets , plus banner advertisement. You can also go for JV .

It has been 1.5 years since I said this. I now know that PPC is better than SEO. Obviously not free, but tonnes more profitable if done correctly.
