Hello, I was looking for certain offline methods of marketing in the UK. People living in UK might be able to suggest certain newspapers, IT related magazines, certain business seminars or festivals, IT related exhibitions that take place over there which I could use as a platform to move forward. Ive heard advertising on weather websites that are frequently visited by people in UK is a good idea. So can you suggest such websites? I wish to hit the UK market in a big way. Want to target the small and medium sized business community. I was looking for suggestions and ideas for offline marketing in UK or even non-search-engine-related online marketing for UK.. Looking forward to responses. Thanks in advance. Vaibhav
Briefly, for your online marketing that is not PPC, I would look on Google.co.uk for your field and simply take a look at the top 5 results and see if they have any "advertise" links on them. The bigger ones have media packs with all of their rates e.g. CPM. The top results are usually the most popular and so are probably the best target since these are what people from the UK are going to be looking at when searching for the same key words. Naturally the more people a site reaches the more it's going to cost - the yahoo.co.uk home page for example is going to be quite expensive For offline advertising, it just depends on your budget - it you want to hit the UK in a big way and reach the most people it is going to be expensive. I know full page display ads in a popular IT magazine such as NET (this is a web design magazine) cost about £2500, halving as you halve the ad size (roughly). For national newspapers I have no idea - at least £20000 I would guess. Display ads are going to be seen by more people than classified ads, but are more expensive as a result. You could maybe advertise in a local newspaper if there is a particular area of the country you are aiming at. For an idea of the UK newspaper market and which you might like to target (tabloid vs broadsheet) take a look at http://lessurl.com/bF, which even though it was written a while ago gives a good impression of the market. Then you have billboards, radio, cinema, TV ads... as much as you can spend really. I have not been to any business seminars etc. so I have no experience with that - no doubt a quick search on Google.co.uk should find a few though. I'm not sure I have ever heard of advertising on weather web sites, unless your product was weather-related. The only one I use is bbc.co.uk, and you can't advertise on there.. Hope some of that helps.
the yellow pages (http://www.yell.com) and thompson business directory (http://www.thomsondirectories.com) might be useful avenues
