Marketing in Second Life

    Hello, I haven't been here in a while!

    I was wondering if anyone is interested in advertising their websites in "Second Life". Second Life is a 3D virtual world which is currently very high profile in the media. I operate an "inworld" ad company and we are looking for clients to advertise their services with us. Due to a recent fall in virtual land prices this is now an affordable option for web developers.

    The most popular way to advertise at present is the rotating advert - usually a rotating 3D elongated cube with a standard web adsense skyscraper size image textured on all of the sides. They are highly visable on the virtual skyline and can most easily be compared to 3d pop-ups - grabbing the attention of whoever is in the area. Upon clicking they link to a website in the standard webbrowser (IE usually).

    I am currently offering the following services:

    ======
    50 Dedicated Rotating Skyscrapers Ads - $5/week US Dollars

    Includes Guaranteed 20 genuine traffic or following week free. Good looking adverts will usually make MUCH more than that.
    I know that for a number of website categories this makes our system many times more cost effective than Adsense and other per click providers - and offers you full image ads to increase brand recognition.

    ======
    50+ Dedicated Rotating Skyscraper Ads - $18x(number of blocks of 50)/month US Dollars

    (i.e. 200ads - (18x4) = $72/month)

    This will give you much wider exposure and hence traffic - but payment must be monthly to reduce the financial risk to us (possessing land incurs "land use fees" in secondlife)

    We currently do not advertise pornography or illegal websites.

    If you are interested please contact me via private message or alternatively discuss here :)

    I thought about trying it but then I found out my vid card didn't support it.. It's only a few years old..lol

    I'd be interested in hearing those who have tried 2nd life marketing.

    I've only been on a few weeks, so still trying to find my way around. However, In my profile I do have my website. I have seen a slight increase in subscribers, and although I can't track it, I'm willing to bet some are coming from there.

    The way the ads work in SL are still a bit fuzzy to me. I can see advertising for things within the SL world, but seems like most don't do web browsing while in SL, so to me would be less likely to click on an outside link from in world.
