I need ideas to market www.OnlineCarDeals.info

I run adwords and it is just okay with the high ppc rate for this category.

I also tried to buy traffic from immensehits.com. It did absolutely nothing!
The real hits were not even 1% of their reported numbers. Total waste of money!

someone suggested listing an ad in criagslist car for sale section - that does not seem right!

I would appreciate any good ideas for marketing this website.

    Your best bet is craigslist.

The adwords market for that particular niche is loaded.

Whenever you are looking to buy traffic, use compete.com to roughly see how many hits that particular site gets.

That site you noted has less than 20,000 monthly hits! If they can't bring in the hits for their own site, how can they for other sites?

You can use a few unique, crazy different ways to advertise, but like any product out there, the bottom line is you are going to have to advertise, regardless.

Try to find Websites to advertise on that have low to mediocre advertising rates, and making sure that the visitors may like the product. Get enough of them lined up like ducks on hunting day, and make the big smackaroos through volume.
Make, say, $10 a day, times 30 days = $300 a month. Take that $300 and buy more ads.

    Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat...

    Also...

    2. Can you write articles car related, and put your URL at the bottom? It could be how-to, funny, facts and quizzies, funny and serious videos....

    3. Look for popular car sites, and study their sites to see how they did it. One way is to go back in their history by using http://www.archive.org/index.php

    4. Yellow pages.

Expensive? You bet your sweet ass, but it might work out for you.

    5. Put in helpful how-to articles and quick tips in your paper. Make it a weekly thing.

    6. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!
Here in my hometown, they were selling a car and using the proceeds for cancer research. The owners got word of moutn started on it, and asked everyone and everybody to start signing the car.

I saw it one time at the mall, and while the owner was doing his errands, passer byes were signing it. It was pretty cool.

Before too long the car was covered with signatures, and it was big news.

From what I understand, the car sold for a lot of money.

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX! And then put in a short sales pitch.

    7. Answer questions and offer tips in yahooanswers, message boards, networks, bookmarking sites....

But keep in mind that if you are putting in more hours and making less than a minimum-paid worker, it's time to stop!

    8. Infomercials.

Get a couple of sponsers to pay for the air time.

    9. Make your site on more than just about buying and sellling cars. Get repeat visiotrs, and then get word of mouth going. One way is to put a "send to a friend" form on the bottom of any and all articles, tips, picture gallery...

    10. Go to sites college kids hang out at. They are always looking for a car. Same with sites parents may hang out at.

Put in such a section in your homepage. Better yet, create a subdomain for them for the search engines. Not to say that you will get listed. Everybody and their brother is doing it too, so don't hold your breath. But try it anyway. If anything, you can advertise that subdomain.

Do the same for poor people. They need a car too, right?

I had a college kid program my site, and his parents were looking around for a cheap, reliable car.

Take out pad and pen and write down all the possibilities open to you. No matter how dumb or crazy it may seem at the time, write it down anyway.

The idea is to get your brain fired up. ... Get you brain going. Once you start thinking, you will think of more and more and more ideas. You then flush out all the bad ones, and then go from there.

It would be highly effective to get site traffic by being good ranked with Search Engines, your auction site is all about car-related key-words such as car manufacturers, car models, etc, I guess people who would find you through Search Engines would come through one of the car-related words and that's your targeted audiance, more than many people turn to Google when searching for used cars offers.

You have a PR 0 site and I don't know how much .info domain can contribute to your site ranking, I have a car related .com domain that ranks #1 with Search Engines for 'car salesroom' without having a web-site behind the domain or doing promotion for it, so you may consider transfering your web-site from .info to .com or .org.

Check you're listed in many car directories and yellow pages too.

thanks for your ideas and time.. I really appreciate that.

As per some of your suggestions.. Created xcs1.com for this site (xtreme car sales!)

Paid for submitting to 105 web directories

Resubmitted to all the search engines..

Craigslist will work for sure.. but still not convinced that this suits there for the shoppers!

You can use the feature ads of eBay to increase your ads visibility.

Have you considered going local? There seems to be a huge amount of online competition for you in this niche, and sometimes focusing your efforts locally can very well pay off. What about sending out some targeted flyers?

I don't know how Search Engine friendly is the domain xcs1.com just for its name, experiences thought me that having key-words in .com and .org domain names is significant with SEs, all my .com domains are in first 3 places or at #1 place when I use the words that constitute them as a search term, for some of the domains I never had a web-site nor did much promotion.

As for the directory (directory sites by nature) submission, I submitted some of my sites to more than many directories, surprisingly Google results don't show them there like my sites are not in those directories for Google SE. Submission to directory sites by nature as a way to get valuable in-bound links in order to rank good with SEs (or at least with Google) may be history. The only such directory where my sites are evident in Google results is the vital dmoz.org, other dozens of submissions are nowhere to be seen.

It's best to have your site submitted to directories that are 'links page' of content-rich sites but most paid directory submission services don't do that, they submit your site to directories that are directory sites by nature.
