Hi Guys, I have a new humour based website that I want to market to teenagers (just to grow the audience for now as I have nothing to sell). How would you do that? I'm thinking mainly of youtube but there has to be other good spots apart the usual suspects (seo, articles). What do you think? Cheers, JB
myspace would be a good one, you could gather as much friends as possible and then post bulletins when you add a new joke/funny picture to your website.
Take a look at cracked.com, the marketing job that site has done in a short period of time is truly amazing.
I would suggest social networking sites. Most teenagers have either a Myspace or a Facebook page nowadays, so if you set up an account and gain loads of friends, then you can send jokes via bulletin with a link to your website at the bottom. A lot of teenagers will accept you, purely because they want to have a huge friends list so that they look really popular. Also, as you've suggested, YouTube. I bet millions of teenagers go on the Tube every day, so set up a video, probably with someone telling a joke to another, and buy some views. Then, once you've got 5k-10k views, people will view it and word of mouth will promote it
