Hey everyone I'm still a lil newbie to these forums but I have talked to some great members from the site already and they suggested looking around for good advice on SEO and marketing, time to take them up on that offer I am the owner of an established game/arcade script called GameScript. I'm sure most of you have seen the name somewhere I will have some big changes coming soon including the first major update to the script, a new site design and a custom sales movie from Netasis. I was looking for some information on marketing for the script. I have never really done any type of marketing or SEO so any help would be great.
I would start with http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/ to find out how many people are searching for your terms. Then move to http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/ - find out how your site is ranking for those terms That way you can work out what people are targeting. In summary, sprinkle the right keywords in the right places (Headings, in content, anchors) Then get lots of relevant links from relevant sites using relevany words. Theres a bit more too it, but that should give you somewhere to start. Also, you might want to sign up for the coop network. There is plenty about it in the forums.

SEO is like the slow boat from China. If you want results now, apply those keywords you found in your AdWords account. Work out what the average sale gives you in terms of profit. Then work out how many sales per N visitors you get. That way you'll know the net worth of each visitor on average. Say you make $0.40 per visitor on average. Now you can work out your desires customer/visitor acquisition cost. If you make $0.40 per visitor you can buy CPC ads for up to that $0.40 to make profit. Keep doing SEO (mainly link building) in the background and in a couple of months you can replace some paid ads for free natural listings.
He mean that "marketing", not only SEO. I really like his product. I think build a website and get money from Google Adsense better than sell that scripts! By the way, please include "Admin Demo" from your script and give your customer a database that has many games and your customer don't need to enter game.
