Marketing for a freebie forum

Hi there I just wanted to ask some question regarding promoting forums. This specifically is a freebie forum. What ways are effective of luring users in and keeping them a regular on the forum?

 

give them stuff for free

 

contests for prizes

 

I am running contests every month pretty much. Works well for me.
No matter what it would take time to kick off a forum.

 

would being paid to post give them an incentive?

 

ok so I put the pay to post system up. how much should I pay for amember post?

 

Make some interesting and attractive themes to talk about. Make on your forum some interesting news...What's your forum about?

this makes too much spamming.

With out looking and reading at the actual post people are going to just post what they feel.

This will decrease quality of posting.

 

hm.. and how about actually getting the peopl to the forum without spamming?

 

do not pay people to post other than to just build up a base of activity on the site. I would recommend the contest way of doing it instead. you will get much better results

 

so your saying to keep it paid to post for awhile then get rid of it when my forum has gotten up?
