Are any other marketers out there feeling the heat about the recession? This white paper we just published shows how you can build your brand stronger in the recession? http://www.ideopia.com/soil

Its only a recession if you think its a recession!

Personally I choose not to participate, because I refuse to except failure and blame it on a local or global market recession ideas. Business will be just fine, as long as your not sitting on your ass thinking its a recession and thats why the marketing your not doing is not working.

No, it's a recession if the world's economy slows past a certain point.

Being in denial and thinking it's not happening is a GREAT way to lose business, instead of being proactive and taking steps to ensure you can make it through.

The age of really cheap goods coming out of China is being challenged due to external raw material costs sky rocketing and internal inflationary pressures. Consumers will now consider saving for a product or buy less of a product.

The sub prime fiasco is still unwinding, more skeletons in the closet. The financial markets are in uncharted waters as some new financial instruments have not been regulated properly, allowing human greed to conquer its usefulness. Many commercial businesses have gambled on an era of "sleeping at the wheel". Risk Management is a 24/7/365 day job and people should learn from history that humans are always playing the cat and mouse game with each others money.

Also the American dollar has lost the world's currency status, so any good marketing campaigns that can grab Euros will be worth it! :)

As for marketing strategies during a recession, I have to agree that it would be like playing in a knockout competition and requires the whole organisation
to be working on the improved SWAT analysis (Business Plan) .

Yes, it is true that there is a housing recession in play, and that affects 12% of the economy. This means 12 people out of every 100 people you know are having problems with their house payments.

However what I posted above you should read once more. As the story goes, I ran into a man at a conference in a middle of a recession, while everyone else was saying the boat was sinking, AND excepting it, because they believed if everyone else could not make great sale numbers, how could they do it themselves. In that they accepted the recession and did nothing. Thu going out of business!

However the man that I ran into at the conference handed me a business card, and on the back of it, it read “I refuse to join the recession!”, because he refuses to join that line of thought, he spends more time finding way to make money. At that time, he had the best numbers in the business, because he refused to except it, or join it.

I refuse to accept it, and FYI we have grown more than 188% in the last year alone, because I will never blame anything on a recession, as its only me or my co-works fault for not performing better, and saying “Well it’s a recession, that’s why its not selling!”.
