Email campaign can be a great way of marketing. Through email campaign you remind your visitors about your service, encourage them to visit the site again. In order to get success on this its better to build a mailing list by encouraging visitors to sign up for newsletters.
Here is one I did recently http://www.webcosmo.com/EmailCampaign/11102007/campaign.html

The email template looks nice but you have the actual purpose and point of the email well below the fold.

In todays age people are going to open the email, look at it for 2 seconds and if it doesnt attract their attention theyll just close it.

Most of the people delete the newsletter before even looking at it. From my experience doing it for my own site as well as for the company I work for, I have seen about 2-5% people do read it.
In my opinion it works more like a reminder, which is great. For the company I work for I have seen 500-2000+ dollars sales from the promotion made on newsletter. Which is good to have.

Just never been a fan of newsletters. I guess it is because I get so much junk mail I never wanted to become part of it myself. Even though people subscribe supposedly you still never know, and then you have the crazy people who complain about the emails instead of just opt-ing out.

I think newsletters are beneficial, not only to sell a product or offer a service, but more importantly they act as a reminder of your brand or website. Too many business' are noticed one day and forgotten the next.

Even if one person acts on a newsletter then it is worth it!

Cosmocentral, I'm curious, have you ever thought about just displaying your weekly newsletters on your site for everyone to see, instead of just a fraction of them, the ones who read your newsletters?

I didn't think of it, do you think its a good idea?

Key to newsletter marketing success is sending email to people who sign up to receive that. Sending spam just doesn't work.

I think there is a spelling error in that image.

"With our Countrywide / Stetawide / Local" Should it be statewide?

Just letting you know in case you use that image again. Also, you have a very nice classified ad Website.

    I don't see why it wouldn't work.

    Here's my thinking...

I too have a newsletter box. It's down on the bottom of my pages: http://www.thelist.fm/Pictures-girls-dating.shtml

I'm going to scrap it and use in its place a description and link to a blog type info page that will be published once a week, like on Fridays. "Fridays at the TheList.FM." And on that page I can also sell them a little bit, just like in a newsletter.

Think about it...you and I both know the number of people who actually sign up. And the ones who do, well, how many will actually read them all.

And if you do think about it, isn't it better to have all or most of our visitors see the info, instead of a very small fraction?

I think we see so many sites out there with newsletters because everyone is copying off one another. You see enough newsletters out there, and we all begin to think: "Hey, this must work. I see them all over the place?"

Maybe I am missing something here?

Well, anyway, that is just my thinking.

Email marketing is very hard job but result is not good, instead of marketing through forums postings, article writings etc.

It very much depends on what sort of site you have.

I have done a lot of consulting for online department stores. For this type of business an email newsletter is extremely effective and many companies regard it as a keystone for their business.

Email Marketing - A followup autoresponder campaign, can keep you in front of your prospects, and deliver both content and offers.....does not have to be a newsletter per se

That is true. Email newsletter is a big asset which is why many autoresponders are making a lot of money. :)

They are making a lot of money because practically all webers out there don't know any better.

    Sheep following sheep.

So, where's your newsletter sign up form?

For me, I'd rather put the info in the site, where more than just a fraction will see, which, in turn, many, MANY more will return. On top of that, not all will read the newsletters they sign up for, thus decreasing the odds of getting repeat visitors even more.

I'm not about to get all giddy over X amount of newsletter sign ups when I can get those same ones, in addition to a hell of a lot more simply by putting it in the site.

    That's just common sense.

But hey, different strokes for different folks.

Thats a damn funny picture you have there. LOL.

Yes I agree with you totally, it would be even better marketing letting everybody see it instead of a small fraction.
