Marketing an image hosting site

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to get your opinions/advice. I own an image hosting website, http://imgup.io/ - It's been doing pretty well, serving about 5,000 unique visitors a day, but they aren't the visits I want.

The visits I get are of people viewing the images that are shared on social media and from search engines. I get a lot of search engine traffic and I rank well for a few good keywords, but all of the traffic comes from Google images.

The type of visits I want, though, are users looking to host images. I get a 1 or 2 uploads per day, but I want more than that. I want to somehow market the site that attracts people to upload their images.

The keywords in this market would be hard to do SEO for, for example "image hosting" or "free image hosting", I'm not gonna be able to do that. So how do people suggest I market the site?

    Cheers!

Why not look for longer tail keyphrases and try to target those? For example, "image hosting website" or "image hosting services" or "image hosting for ebay"....It might be hard to rank for the shorter keyphrases, but longer ones are likely easier.

Hmm, not sure how I'd do that really? Not sure what content I'd put on those pages

You can always add text to your homepage. Just find a good placement for it. Maybe add some information about your website, features, goals, etc.

Figure out what keywords you want to target. Maybe Social media marketing is the way to go for this. Think outside the box!

I've added as much text as I can to the homepage for now, I have got an idea to add more though with a page re-design. The social media side of things is going well, with people sharing images and stuff, but it's not converting into users uploading images, which is what I'd like :D

It's time to you invest in advertising... in the past I was hired by "MINUS" to promote their brand. ;)
