I used an Overture Keyword Tool for finding best keywords and turned out that keyword "chemistry" has a count of 67402 and "organic chemistry" has 36863. So I thought it's a good domain name.
You should get backlinks as much as you can. Without increasing your link popularity search engines would not send you traffic. Even 10 visitors per day for a site with a few backlinks is very good imo! If you can develop lots of good content, i am sure you can find lots of natural backlinks for it.
Cosminc - you should then focus on get BLs using those terms. In Google your competition is - Results 1 - 10 of about 108,000,000 for chemistry [definition]. (0.11 seconds) & Results 1 - 10 of about 48,600,000 for organic chemistry [definition]. (0.17 seconds) So if you hope to be in top 10 in Google for those keyword/phrases - you better become an authority site otherwise it might be difficult for you to bring your site in top 10. Not impossible but very extremely difficult. So start building links. And if you have some good information - contact school teachers who might have websites and might link back to you. Contact some college teachers too.
