I decided for a new project that I would make an adult website... I ended up with a pretty cool idea and I have it online and running now. The website provides streaming mp4 porn clips on the iphone / ipod touch. My question is, how do I go about marketing this. I am finding that most of the techniques and strategies I have built up in the past 4 years do not really apply to porn sites. Yeah, directories and crap are always good but im looking to get porn hungry perverts with iphones flocking to my site. Any ideas?
This is difficult. I have an adult site that allows people to complete offers and get free adult novelties. After a TON of research (who else gets paid to look at porn), I found that this industry is dirty, dirty, dirty. So I identified several things that were going to make the site popular; first, cheesing the site up (there's a reason that 9/10 adult sites have a pic of some woman showing her crotch or some guy's dong splashed everywhere). The first challenge that I faced was the sponsors were NOT going to accept some naked people on the site. So i created a splash page and started to promote that. I then started contacting people that had popular porn sales sites and forums. Just by doing this, I was able to increase the traffic over 100% in about a month's time. Since then, we've abandoned the site for other ventures, but oh well. Hope that helps you out and good luck!
You will get much better advice at some adult webmaster forums. Those guys are miles ahead in the marketing arena.
thanks for the link, GFY seems to have a lot of useful resources. Other than that I think ill try dropping some links to the site on iphone related forums..... that is if I can find some without pussy admins that censor everything.
Upload videos and archive with the password as your url and then share on freebie porn forums also include a readme file telling people where they can get more.
Do you think maybe using torrents to advertise would maybe help? Like provide a pack of free vids or something. I don't know just an idea.
create a site specifically for iphones - so that you can nail those keywords... and gather the perverts from there with a link to your porn site
A good way to promote an adult site is to get some nice gallery content and make some clean galleries promoting your site, and submit them to thumbnail gallery posts. When you have a few galleries, add them together to make a clean free porn site and submit that to link sites like green guy, richards thumbs ect.
indirect spam works the best imo. and people will keep flocking to your site, and the word would spread across the net very quick.
Well I'm not really aware of good ways to promote a porn site. I've found a lot of people frown on that sort of stuff. But my guess would be to offer some free clips or something and link them to your site. Like upload the videos to a different website with your website address on the video. Not too sure, but like someone else said Spam would really do the trick, but I wouldn't use your name as you will build a bad reputation, and if you ever start something else, you won't be very happy with your reputation. -- Hamish
Well something is working lol... I strategically places a few links on some forums and such and I went from 58 unique hits - 118 pageviews on the first day (yesterday) and today I have closed out with 213 uniques and 985 pageviews. If I can keep traffic increasing like this, I dont think ill have any problems making some dough off this site
