I was wondering if I could get a little advice from you older webmasters. I was wondering when you first started off developing your site. How did you get it off the ground in terms of traffic. Here is currently what I am doing: 1. Article submissions to ezinearticles.com 2. URL submission to all major search engines 3. Consistent url submission to directories 4. Link exchanging (well at least trying to get the back links) 5. Signed up with Linkparters.com 6. Customized Wordpress Blog on site 7. Pinged my blog to various sites 8. Would like to RSS my blog but I am not sure how? 9. Submitted my blog to other directories I was wondering if I doing the right thing. Because I am not seeing the traffic number regardless of my effort. I hope that my site has good content but I have no clue because I am not seeing the numbers let alone the sales. Kind of discouraged.
1. No need for url submission. Let the search engines find you. 2. Don't do any link exchange Traffic takes time and you site must provide some value to the site visitors. If it is something unique, you can create buzz to generate quick traffic.
Have you done any on-page optimization? I didn't see you mentioned that in your list.. try to include your targeted keywords in the META, title and headers tag. Talking about marketing a blog, you should really visit Darren - Problogger's blog for some very useful tips
Oh yah I did use meta tag descriptions and title and keywords. Do those impact a SE greatly? It seems as though most competitors sites are using it as well. Also do you have that blog address that you mentioned?
There is no need to submit to hundreds or thousands of meaningless search engines because you won't get any traffic from them anyway.
Hi, something for you to consider You can stop submitting to the search engines. Let the search engines find you naturally. It is a waste of time. Continue with article marketing. It is a long term strategy to drive consistent traffic even in months to come. Use social bookmarking to get your site and webpages indexed. Submit each individual page. I have compiled a list of powerful traffic driving techniques in my free report. You can pick it up through my signature.
Yah I was thinking that submitting to search engines was kind of pointless except for the major ones because there has to be a steady flow of traffic from each SE.
Build a solid network in your niche / industry. Spread the word to people in your network. Keep adding quality content (informative + controversial), and word can spread very quickly among a highly targeted group.
Blog posts + press releases + word of mouth = a fantastic launch. (Given that the posts are positive, and the site is good!)
Have you made sure that what you are pushing has a market. If you have done all that work and are getting no traffic then I would seriously consider checking to see if a market does exist for what you are doing. Paule
The bottom line unfortunately is time. You can push as hard as you want, but it simply takes time to start ranking well with the major search engines. Many new people who start websites get mad when they aren't making hundreds of dollars in the first couple weeks. It is probably going to take a new website at least 6 month to a year before they really start seeing positive results. Building a quality website takes time, time, and more time. Content + Time + Backlinks = Success There are no short-cuts for real webmasters.
dont worry the result of SEO always take some times. you will get more and more visitors if you keep promoting your site. you already done all basic promotions. keep on doing it and if you got budget you can start buying links to draw more visitors.
Marketing a site is not always about the quantity of visitors, but the quality. For example, ranking your paris hilton blog top for "One Night In Paris" would only attract a bunch of men instead of fashion obcessed women. In this case, you would far more benefit from a feature on the homepage of a small fashion magazine. Think laterally as well as vertically. You don't always need to be the biggest and "best" to make bank.
