Marketing A Wrestling Blog

I'm not quite sure how to market this. The keywords pay shit, it is basically just for me to write my thoughts of wrestling down on the screen. I would be happy with $5/day from this.

I'm a big fan of wrestling so I think this would be good for me to write about.

You can start by changing your template and optimizing your ads ;)

Are there any web rings you can join that may bring in a little traffic for you? What about wrestling forums that you can post on.

If Adsense payouts are going to be low, what other methods of monetization can you try? Affiliate links? CafePress products? Donations?

lol I liked your blog. Funny and I agreed with pretty much everything. I'm a closet wrestling fan (well not really in the closet anymore I guess). ;) Some quick suggestions:

    1. The layout doesn't really appeal to me. Most wrestling sites go with red, black, gray, etc. Normally different is good, but I think wrestling fans are mostly creatures of habit. Stick with those at least at first.

    2. I'd get off of Blogger actually. I love them for my own things, but for a wrestling blog, you really need to be able to use category archives, b/c of the different branded shows, companies, wrestlers, news, etc. Doesn't wordpress let you do that? Not sure.

    3. Give the blog a catchier title.

    Hope that helps. :)

Thanks for verifying Tyler. Actually, when I saw this earlier it reminded me that I had just renewed wwesucks.net. I had a drupal site up briefly just for fun, but didn't have time to keep up with it b/c I wasn't watching the shows regularly enough. Maybe I'll set something up again with Wordpress when I have some time.

    1. Buy your own domain name including the keyword you want most in the title.
    2. Use a CMS like WordPress.
    3. Blend your ads. Links work best in blue. CF Joel Comm's The Adsense Code for tips
    4. Comment actively on other similar blogs to develop links.

    Good luck!

Ok, I'll run with WordPress. I don't get how to edit HTML in my posts though...

Also, how do I set the 'TNA' category to my stuff only. If I set the category to TNA, it has a bunch of people's stuff.

Well the YouTube videos aren't embedding when I edit the HTML. I managed to change the layout. I suppose I can't put Adsense into a subdomain.wordpress.com URL?

I don't think so. I've never had a blog hosted on WordPress, but I was reading a thread earlier today and I think someone was having the same issue.

It's best to get a domain and host yourself. You are in full control of not only the looks but the development as well at a later time.

WordPress 2.x sucks beyond all suckiness.

Get WordPress 1.5 and you'll be fine. I had that problem with my ringtone site. I had to embed the video clip by editing the database entry directly.

I don't know what idiot decided it would be a good idea to put a rediculously bad WYSIWYG editor into a blog.

Check the code that POS generates. I had a post with 20 FONT definitions and no text. And since you can't edit the HTML directly there's no way to fix it.

Fun Fact: On Windows XP WordPress will take the font information from Notepad and injects it into your blog entry. If you have notepad to display text in a certain font WP will use that font in your entry.

I'd like to punch the creators of WP 2.x in the mouth.

I have the WP 1.5 zip saved on my server. I should probably make that available. You can also find it by searching on Google.

    Advice taken.

And I'm using 2.x, because you can easily get around the HTML editing BS. I just read the forums.
