The first step is to be competetive.

There are many established showcases (CSS Mania, CSS Remix, etc.) I think building a community can help. Allow people to comment, have a blog, offer people useful content regularly.

Then you need to market it, and that I think needs money. You can always try advertising on already established showcases and on webmater-related websites.

Finally I would suggest a better site. Your site looks good, but I know of tens of Website showcases that look similar. You are showcasing beautiful websites, so make one that is beautiful and different. That is a good bet as well.

Advertising would come from people wanting to target the website community as soon as your site receives a decent amount of visitors.

    Good luck!

Also give it more life! I just submitted my website and I got a blank page. Tell me thank you, tell me I will check it before submitting, tell people something.

I think I need to rethink my idea for the website. I wanted something to bring in reasonable money with little input after setting up. I may sell design and rebrand to something else. Something which I can't think of.

After submitting you should be forwarded to a think you page btw.

I was thinking possibly adding a slight twist to the site. Ie accept all website and make it for the average person's showcase or make it only for blogs or something like that. Otherwise I may just keep it and then sell for a small fee. (havent spent anything so all profit.)

This website is fine. Just have to improve it.

-Add 1 extra row so you'll have 4 of them. After 2 rows display adsense block
-After clicking next you can put 4-5 second loading time displaying big adsense box.
    -Add Most rated website section
    -Add CSS section
    -Add flash section
-When adding website, let people choose their alt tag. (Prevent spamming somehow. Limit the alt tag by letters)
-Why can't I give some websites 3 or less ratings ?
-Websites should have commenting option. You know.. after clicking the thumbnail you get the new page where it contains more information about that site. Maybey start adding FUVZ review to sites.

There are for sure more ways to improve that site. These were the first ideas when I visited your site.

And the site looks good :)

Here's an idea you can try (be careful though, you don't want it to seem too spammy). Create an award and give it away. Find popular sites with great designs and give them this "award" for top design, etc. IF the site actually likes the award, they'll place it in their site!

Another way you can go about this is creating a voting system. Some sites might promote yours just to get a higher ranking at their site.

Wow thanks your tips have actually got me thinking a lot. Possibilities are much greater. I can start the fuvz review and have a blog/news section for internet updates and website reviews. Can do free reviews to start then do paid. Also commenting idea on each website is a good idea. I will try implement that.

Reason you probably dont think you can vote 3 or less is because the hover colour doesnt change. I will also sort that.

I will definitely try and implement all your advice. Although it may take some time.

Could you explain the voting system a little bit 8everything? I like your fuv of the week/ fuv of the month type idea. They could get a review on the blog and highlighted with a gold border.

Well, it's really simple. One your homepage create a button that says "submit your site for an award", you can create a new page with a submission form. When a webmaster submits his or her site, you can send them the "award" (which is simply a graphic saying, top design award from fuvz which links to your site). :)

    I meant this part:
Another way you can go about this is creating a voting system. Some sites might promote yours just to get a higher ranking at their site.

People interested being partner with the site I would consider since I cant dedicate my full time to the project once fully developed a partner may be good.

From your comments I have come up with the follow changes. Comments are very appreciated. This seems a better plan to me although will require some difficult developing I reckon. Also may require heavy advertising to get off the ground?

The site will accept pretty much all website submitted. Submission will require more information about your site such as your name, article about your site, tags.

I will have the 6 latest submitted sites as currently on the site but when you click thumbnail you are taken to a page which gives further details and a link to the website. You will be able to post comments here aswell.

Under the section on the homepage I will have a blog/news area. This will be a blog about the internet and will showcase reviews on submitted websites. (paid for after site is developed)

Site will have a top rated section for top 10 overall rated and will run a "Fuv of the week"(or fuv of the month) competition. The winner will be picked by me and a custom designed badge emailed to the winner. If you become fuv of the week or month (whichever you think best) you get added a page showcasing the fuv of the weeks and listen in the fuv of the week archive in the blog. You would also get a section on the side bar for a week on the blog area with a thumbnail linking to the site and a link to a review of the website which will be written by me and also available on the blog.

I think the new ideas are slightly different from the regular beauty showcase. Let me know any ideas and if you like the new concept.

Add: Just thought of an idea for a "fuv of the week widget" which you can add to a blog and display the fuv of the week.

One thing that is crucial on those sites is a nice RSS feed. The RSS feed needs images (and large images). Take a look at CSSRemix's feed. That's the reason I like them best.
