Dear readers, I am a partial owner of a webhosting company in Spain. Hosting isn't really big yet in Spain, for example there are not even a dozen big players. We've done a lot of research, even had a university trainee research the subject for 6 months and came to the conclusion that it's probably wise to specialize, which is why we chose budget webhosting. There are no big players offering unlimited webhosting for prices as low as we do it, and definately not nationwide. There are some cheap webhosts, but they catch up with high costs for domains. We've just gone in production a few hours ago, and have not really done a lot on marketing yet. I believe our site is technically very well optimized, so we've got the basis covered I think. We've optimized with things in mind like keyword density, proper use of H1 tags, META keywords and description, OpenGraph tags (mainly for Facebook), placing the more important content higher on the page, etc. Our name has also been chosen with SEO keywords in mind. The rest of our plan, in no particular order: - Get a lot of Twitter followers. We're starting out by following everyone who follows our competitors on Twitter, unfollow everyone who doesn't follow us within a week, rinse and repeat. - Get a lot of Facebook likes. We didn't do anything about this yet, but we are planning to buy some likes (targeted in Spain naturally) and think the rest will come from a floating social media box on our website. - Upload videos to YouTube. We've already uploaded 19 videos to YouTube, which contain instructions for FTP and email in various applications. Watermarked with our logo and our URL in the description. - Linkbuilding, adding our site to link directories and webhosting comparison sites, and also do some traditional linkbuilding by replying to blog articles relevant to webhosting, getting our URL in there. - AdWords. We're planning to invest about €1000 a month in Google AdWords for starters, and keep increasing this amount assuming we're gonna get a return on it. - Knowledgebase. Although our knowledgebase is within our billing application, which is not so SEO friendly but optimized a little by us, we're gonna post a lot of instructions and articles there. - Blogging. We have a simple blog, and are going to post an article relevant to the hosting world every few days. Basically, this is the idea but i'm looking for tips on how to expand this marketing plan. So, I have a few questions: - Can anyone tell me if there's something we're missing here? - Would anyone, preferrably a Spanish speaker, do a sitecheck? - Are there any whitehat tricks to boost our traffic? In theory, I know some things about SEO but since we're planning to go nationwide, i'm feeling a little thrown in the deep here. Any tips or suggestions are more than welcome!
