What are the best ways to getting a singer songwriter's website noticed online?

I know about link building in directories, forums and blogs, but can anyone suggest any other ways without it costing an arm and a leg?

The two most obvious ways to market your talents are on facebook and youtube, have you prepared any video's yet?

I do have pages on those sites, I only have a very simple video on youtube so far. But it seems the more social networking pages you have the more time you need to be on the net to maintain them, which as a musician is not really ideal.

Try to find out various keywords for that market, and build links around those keywords. Optimize your site for those keywords. Try to find out what people are searching for that are looking for singers/songwriters.

For a singer/songwriter and the music biz itself, sometimes the old fashioned route is the best - Hit the road and tour. Or, enter various contents, attend music conferences, get on music forums and advertise there and look for collaborators. Hit up people in other cities and try to swap out shows. Send out a newsworthy press release if anything big comes up (new CD, tour, etc). There are lots of ways to get things going. Don't limit yourself to building a website and hoping people will find it.

Thankyou. I am trying to optimize my website with keywords as we speak, and submitting to directories/commenting on relevant blogs etc with those key words.

Yes, the old fashioned ways I know and practice too, as I have more of the old school mindset. But I don't see myself as web savvy as I suppose others are. So I guess I'm just wondering if I'm missing a time saving trick somewhere.
