I just had a new proxy set up for me (thepasskey.info) and want to know how to market it. This is the first real website that I've ever really had, and need some tips from fellow or former proxy owners to get the most out of this website. I know that the proxy will pick up when school starts in a couple of weeks, but I think that now would be a good time to promote it so kids will be able to use it by the time September rolls around. How to I get traffic, links, and revenue from a proxy without spending too much money? Any tips for a new proxy owner? Thanks.
Submit to topsites, purchase a high traffic link/banner and..... do myspace advertising. Looking forward for this discussion... I really need a lotta tips too Regards, ~KMKM
Have your proxy email advertised. There are some people that sell this service on this forum. In my opininion, topsites are a huge waste of time and all those banners slow down your sites load time, and look crappy. Just submit to a few good ones. Myspace marketing is excellent for proxies. Proxies are very viral and myspace really seems to give them a boost. Also the site in my signature may be of some help to you, it is like a digg for proxies. Hope this helps
Try this: Find a student's blog (high school) they're probably all over live journals, thats what most teenagers like to use at that age offer $$ for them to blog about your proxy. Since their friends (similar age) and readers (similar age) will read it, this might 'cause a nice word of mouth method of marketing your proxy
Send me a pm when you decide to submit and I will make sure your site gets some attention. I will also throw in an email to a small proxy group for you to get you started.
SE traffic is probably going to be one of your best bets that a lot of proxy owners seem to forget about. Work on your proxy's SEO. Also, if any of you need a unique template done, PM me.
I think myspace advertising is definitely the way to go. There are myspace friend adders and such. Also, you can somehow advertise to Chinese customers. Those folks use proxies all the time to get around government restrictions.
