Marketing a local PC repair business

    Good Afternoon all,

    I just completed the site...

    http://www.milwaukeetechs.com

...and wanted additional opinions on how I can best use the site for local marketing. I already decided to do the following...

    - yellow pages listing
    - online yellow pages listing
    - yahoo local directory
    - supermarket bulletin board posts
    - advertisments in two smaller local papers
    - classified ad in main regional paper (jsonline.com)
    - SEO for phrases that involve 'milwaukee' or 'wisconsin' and pc repair

I was considering what I saw on another pc repair website is a referrals program where any direct referrals from a customer would net that referrer $20.

I have heard many times, 'how is your business different from the rest?', and I am trying out a service for doing remote sessions, similar to gotomeeting where I can remotely fix their computer, so distance and time (possibly) can be overcome.

    Any hints, tips, or suggestions?

Maybe you can use regionally targeted ads from adsense. You could also join some forums related to PC (repair) where you can help people who are facing difficulties and place a link to your website in your signature.

Hey! We're doing the same exact thing here in North Carolina and Florida. Our on site computer repair is our focus, and we do both home and office work.

What would you say to some sort of partnership? "Sorry, we don't service that area, but here's someone you can talk to!"

Local to me means personable, nothing says personable more than putting your personal photo or business photo on the website. Also, you could try a subscription service...$89 bi annually for the following services and only list the things you can do with a blindfold on. Anything not in that category will be charged at a significantly higher rate. Bring them in low and charge high for add-ons.

If you are using a remote service and it's only for the owners computer, you shouldn't get more than a few simple requests per month and even if you wind up loosing a few bucks (in time) you'll be guarenteed they'll call you for the "my router" is having problems and can charge a pretty penny.

Not sure if you are still working on it but your site is not even optimized as of yet. You need to work on that. Plus, on your compare page if I click on "bestbuy" and the price for "New PC Setup (onsite) for $129 it takes me to the bestbuy site and away from your site.

You don't want people leaving your site like that. And the "remote service" is not really different enough from others. Alot of computer repair businesses are offering that service now.

If you are just starting out I recommend reading "Computer Repair Business Lessons Learned"

Backpage is also good for free local advertising, and topix too.

Look for some high traffic related sites in your local area and advertise there.
