I need some advice from you guys, the experts, on what would be the best use of my time and money (or free ways) of marketing my file hosting site. It is under 20k Alexa and gets around 15k uniques per day. I am using Adsense and it is getting ~ 2% CTR. Also, I am using CPX. Let me know your ideas! Fire away! Grant

Honestly, I have just purchased the site and that is why I'm looking for ideas. The site really took off when the special upload feature was introduced and traffic sky rocketed. I have just put up a blog on it to hopefully increase traffic, but if anyone has some more ideas.. feel free! The best part about it I feel is unlike the bigger sites like File Front, there is no 50 second wait for your download and you can get it right away.
Automatically upload a lot of your files on your website and share them with other people, you can upload LEGAL stuff and still post them on Warez Websites, that is where your URL can really spread and get more popular. Maybe include 1 or 2 Competitions, maybe a $100 award to the person who uploads and gets the most downloads for there files in a month, that could see a great increase in your visitors. I have not made a File Hosting Website myself before, but Best of Luck!
I think it is a good idea to work with bloggers and to find a way to persuade them to promote your file hosting.
write article and submit to article dirs. do forum posting in photo or files related forums. do give some special right to visitors if they link back to your site.
Lately I have been working on adding content to my blog, doing some stumbling, and posting on forums. Also, I have been trading a few links. Hard to get a fair trade, heh.
try to tie up with some popular forums in becoming their sole file / image hoster , pay the owner advertising or allow him some share of your revenues .
Why not try contacting lots of website owners and offer to host all of their images for free, hence removing a big drain on their resources in return for a link back?
I will like to know the URL of that amazing site Well.. there are few things you can do ... 1) Blend your ads well so you can get better clicks ratio. Try different setups and u will finally come to a decision. 2) Try to get into other Big CPM networks. (FastClick or others) CPX pays low 3) Start some sort of "contest" here in DP. 4) You can also sell "Banner Ads" And the best of all Target forums that uses "file" hosting for lots of stuff (You know what i mean ) That will be your best bet. All you have to do is post few details and people will follow it.
