Marketing a E-book

Other than affiliate schemes/sites like clickbank, how do you go about marketing an e-book? Sure you make a page for it but no one's really going to swap links and it'll be tricky to get much traffic from search engines...

So what? How? Has anyone been particularly successful selling one?

    Thanks!

There are lots of ways, target forums on a related theme, create squidoo lenses, hubpages .gather pages, zimbio etc

Write and distribute articles and place links in the resource box.

create viral reports , build a list with a free report and then sell your book to them. Give it away for free but add affilaite links to it.

Hope that give you food for thought

Note, if you are going to give it away for free you need Master ReSelling rights.

Thanks guys. Yeah forums and articles I guess are the way forward.

Forunately I will be selling mine and I hadn't thought of including affiliate links in it thanks. Is that okay then? If I self publish and include the links?

By the way it's really bugging me that I wrote 'a E-book' and not 'an'... sorry :S

    Hi,

i suppose it depend on your market as to how much traffic you are able to create. I have two e books both on the front page of google, one out of 2million poss nits and the others out of 4 million poss hits so it can be done. I have relied upon good seo, forums and articles.

    good luck

Also you can go about creating something like an opt in page and sell your e-book there. Depending on the topic of your e-book, you can create a mini series of newsletters that give advice or help people or train people how they can market your e-book as an affiliate program. Also you are building your list, which is one of the most important aspects of online marketing. It really isn't too hard to create an opt in page either, and I know several people who have gone this route and have been very successful with it.

All very good tips. Article marketing works. Also the advice of squidoo lenses and other web 2.0 sites is good advice. Have your articles and squidoo lenses link to your sales page and then use social bookmarking pointing to your articles and your squidoo lenses to get the link juice flowing.

I use a very similar method to this. By creating hubs, lens etc and linking to them i've managed to have 10 of the top 15 links on google for some niches. And believe me you bank manager loves you when that happens.

It can also be useful to link to your article at ezine articles as that helps to propel it up the google rankings. Very few people do it and ezinearticles ranks highly most of the time so just a few links and your article can grab a top 3 for a lot of keywords

Thanks guys that all sounds like great advice. I need to get into using Squidoo lense.
Would you guys recommend generating hits via ppc advertising? You could hopefully make back the dosh if a low percentage of peeps clicked right?

Use PPC if you have money you aren't worried about losing. You will probably make a loss at first but if you stick with it you can make a good profit.
