recently I bought sponsored links on a few quality theme but found out 2/3 users of themes just removed all sponsored links...

now I doubt if it is worthy to sponsor WP theme...
    what is your opinon?

since you are not the author of the theme, you can't do anything.

But i am sending DMCA notices to hosting providers and the webmasters,if someone removes my CCed link

Well, I became interested in using wordpress themes sponsor links after I saw a competitor jump to the number 1 position for a very very competitive keyword. When I did some backlink research on the site I found that they had sponsored a couple of very popular WP themes.

Based on my research most of their backlinks come from these wordpress theme sponsor links. So I am guessing that most users leave them in, or at least enough to make it a good way to build backlinks.

My opinion is you should buy from a designer who has a website of his own which promotes the themes. Usually they have their own following of fans and I'm sure you'll be guaranteed some users who don't remove the link..

There's a lot of heat on sponsored themes now btw.. so I shouldn't invest too much in it if I were you.

No matter what you do as far as free templates, there are going to be some which will remove the sponsors. I figure that there are more honest people out there , so I think sponsoring a template is still a plus.
I wouldn't waste my time trying to track the cheaters down, there not worth the time and they usually fail.

For what it's worth, I leave the links in my WordPress themes. Although, to be honest, I'd had no idea until seeing this thread that you could sponsor a theme for the backlinks. DP is definitely educational!

    It is normal.

Whenever I sponsor a theme, I always keep in mind that many users will remove the links..there is not much that can be done.

Maybe designers should try adding an image link too...which cannot be removed without spoiling the template - :D.

I've removed them from the 'meta' section, as I remove the stock blogroll. I do however leave any listed in the footer (out of respect, and "payment" of use).

That said, I've never seen a license agreement, or terms of use on any that I've installed. Without either of those, it goes by the terms of Wordpress which leaves them open for removal.

    1. Release it under CC license.
    2. Add a simple tracking script so you can find which sites use your theme.(do not try Google analytics it not easy to do with that.)
    3. Add tracking code in 2 places in-case they find one of those. ( not more than 2 or they might find it fishy)

    C'mon
Its not that hard to remove a link on an image.
Is it possible to encrypt both the Image and link.

    Replace
    <a href~~~<img ~~~~~~~~ /></a>
    Code (markup):
with something else which cannot be identified.

You could actually ioncube a large portion of the theme. Any user who knows anything about PHP will immediately delete your theme though.

not every host comes with ioncube loader.this will drop the theme popularity.i don't think encryption is a good idea.

Exactly and this is something people seem to forget when using themes. Keeping the sponsered link or theme by link is only a good will gesture, it is NOT essential that those links must stay.
