Many subdomain links ok?

    Hi,

I would like to create a network of subdomain sites that share a overall theme but with different (yet related) content. Each subdomain would discuss in-depth the topic and be entirely unique content apart from the layout, colours and such. I would eventually work towards having 100 subdomains or more.

The main site would act as the portal (correct term?) to the subdomains and would have a forum that covers all the subdomain topics. In each subdomain there would be a menu on the top allowing navigation of the subdomain's content and a menu on the left allowing access to all the other subdomains in the "network".

My concern is that Google may think I'm using black-hat SEO tactics with the reciprocal linking of so many subdomains (which it would consider standalone sites) when I'm mearly creating a network of subdomains that are related enough that I'd want them "under the one roof" but different enough that they would need their own keywords. Branding is also important to me for this.

Does this look ok to you guys? I figured this forum would be the best place to ask.
