Hi, I just finished a site a week ago and now its online. My question is, since my site is very new and still pr0, would exchanging links with low pr sites or high pr but unrelated content sites be useful?
u must go with high pr site which related to your site as your site is new so it may happen that many people will reject your link request so i will suggest you buy some good pr links for your site once u got pr then u can exchange links with high pr site also
First of all congrats. I will not suggest you to exchange links, you can always look for purchasing text links, (you can also see http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=782432) then you can build a few links for your site. You can always give the contract to SEO's like us. People like us can develop lots of links for your website.
Your short and easy answer is NO if your are trying to exchange links with high PR site then I don't think so there are you can get anything b'coz nobody will give you high PR link to ur site this is just waste of time there are so many ways to promote new site you should try all this .....
Just build links the better ones with pageranks will come as soon as your site has matured. In the meantime you could buy links to crank up speed.
For my new site (PR0 also), I have just been focusing on content and basic SEO (i.e. blog commenting, article submission, some directories). I am confident that over time I will get a PR of 2-3. It will be at that stage in which I will start exchanging links. However, if I find a site in the same niche looking for exchange I always do it, no matter what the PR is. Just remember quality of the site and if its related to your content is more important than PR.
Agreed with w3bmaster, focus on building one way reciprocal links via articles / directory submissions / blog commenting. Make sure to target your keywords in your anchor text too. While pagerank 0 sites may not give you much weight its better than nothing, and consider the fact that even though they may be PR0 now, they could gain a lot over the course of time and become a quality backlink to you!
I have to disagree, link exchanges used properly are great for new websites. It's almost impossible to build natural one-way backlinks at the birth of a website. I also would consider directory submissions and blog commenting to be no better or worse than link exchanges. One phrase people: Quality Relevant One-Way Backlinks
