I have a website which caters to a particular topic. I call this WebsiteA I have registered around 15 domains which are keyword rich and I have forwarded the domains to WebsiteA I see that my website ranks for some of the keywords found in the supporting domains, as I had done some link building for those domains. Now my question is. ... It it right as to what I am doing or should I focus on building individual sites? I believe that instead of putting my time building individual sites I can put my effeorts in SEO of the add on 15 domain. Please suggest. Thanks
I would focus my SEO efforts on the main domain. If it applies, try to point some of the domains to deep pages...not just the home page. Having many micro site can be a pain if branding and programing is not right. Also, I wouldn't put all my chips on keyword rich domains. There are many factors that go into SE rankings, focus on an overall quality score Hope my 2 cents helps.
I doubt it would work as a backlink. Best idea would be creating seperate sites for each, and putting links there for your main site. I know people who have 200+ domains pointing to a single site with not much results. So you got the answer I guess...
What type of forwarding are you doing? 301's? This can be sensitive stuff if done in the wrong way, Google doesn't like doorway pages. Just adviced a client successfully through a domain change. Full PR and ranking transfer (even increased in the pr update) but it can sure be tricky to change domain once it is established with a lot of backlinks
