we cared mainly about PR because a lot of our submitters do if there is a substantial knock down of PR across directories some submitters would not use it as an important factor but until that day they will just look harder for directories with PR I do see a change in submitters though and how PR is not what they automatically go for this has to be a good sign and a positive result of what google has been doing with PR I think any chance a directory owner has to educate a submitter away from the PR fever the better as itll only help us all in the long run too
Oh the irony of Google shitting our directories - you'd never think they have one of their own . I started a directory a few months ago, didn't really build any backlinks for it whatsoever, backlinks for it were all built by other people linking to it or whatever..and it got PR2. I haven't had time for it the past month so have kinda just left it sitting doing nothing. It's now sitting at a PR3. And I personally haven't built a single link for it. It's quite interesting the view that Google take on directories. One guy sees a paid directory as "paying for a review of your site"...while another, more senior member of the company, sees it as selling links. Not mentioning any names, of course It's like a perfect storm, when one storm shits on another.
Well put, I couldn't agree more, everyone needs to move on and stop worrying about what's happened as this isn't going to change things.. Let's move on and prove who's in it for the long run.
