This is a very serious thread so please keep the discussion related to the thread title.

I recently paid someone to submit some of my websites manually to some directories.
Feel sorry for the guy that had to sit there an manually submit them (he probably found a way to do it faster but still manual)

What I think we should do is, there is a lot of directory owner’s maybe we can collaborate with all of them and come up with a standard way of automation.
    For example:

Joe, John, Jane all own directories that they allow free submission (or paid).
We collaborate with the 3 to allow us in a standard format (xml) to add sites to their directory without manual submission.

So I go to this website (Link Submission Consortium), I type the details for my link, pick a category and I hit submit.
The engine that drives this one submission will be responsible for sending (either by email or directly) information to all the directories that are in our list that support our standard submission format.

In short, if I want to add one site to many directories I should do it from one place and let the engine do the rest.

Initially this will be limited to probably the directories want to support our format and if this catches on (and I know it will) we can have other directories outside of DP to implement our standard.

There are few things we need to overcome of course, such as if I pick a category for my link to be in and not all the directories might have the same category, but I think these are small details that we can work out as we go along.

Please post your thoughts, what problems you see with this initiative what you like, don’t like what you think might work etc. This is a brain storming thread of coming up with a standard for link submission.
