Managing and Organizing SEO

For a while now I have debated on the best way to manage my SEO work.

I do SEO for various different sites and pages on my own sites as well as clients. I always feel disorganised, as if I am just picking link building strategies at random.

It would be great if I had a system where I can add a page and record what SEO work I have done. I could also use this to keep track of links I have purchased, freelancers I am waiting on etc.

Does anyone know of any solution like this? What do you use to manage your SEO efforts?

There are lots of link building methods, some are time consuming...
I have a table of my daily task-to-do; i've sepate those time consuming tasks like forum posting, blog commenting, and other tasks that requires hard thinking. I mix it with less time consuming task like web and article directory submissions, etc.

freshdevelopment, you're right. It's absolutely a great idea to make such tool. It can be called "SEO manager" for example ;)

Make the tool, I'll buy it. Think about it, if a tool like that had a list of directories along with a form submission button like other tools do. Along with a scheduled calendar, easy access to where you've done link building at for notes. Its a damn good idea.

We use a couple of tools in our offices. I personally use Excel to keep track of my clients spending and budgets. We also have a bespoke billing desktop application that is networked between all of our SEOs and deveopers that keeps track of client projects, billing dates and project management.
