On a website project im working on that targets a keyword with 30k UV a month and very little competition managed to make it on the first page within several weeks of me creating the site. the site received alot of traffic (for a new site), 80 UV on one day. However, it didn't stay their long. After a day or so it went back to having almost no ranking for that keyword. Was this because i was still developing content for the site? At the time i had very little content on the site and it was still very much under construction. Does google have a method of deranking pages with little content that manage to sneak in good keywords? It just doesn't make any sense how a site can jump so high in ranking and then suddenly disappear...now i am getting 5 UV a day. Ofcourse the site is still under construction and not nearly as SE freindly as it will be when it's done.
That happens alot with search rankings they come and go. Dont worry man just concentrate with getting more back links with ur keyword in the title of the back links. Good luck keep trying, do a lil seo and wait awhile mabye it will come back up to number 1
Rankings can jump around so much. I was feeling the same way when one of my keywords hit the front page.. only to watch it slide back.. then move up again.. and repeat.. As stated above just concentrate on quality content and building links. Best of luck.
well 80 is not a good number but if the traffic is targetted and looking to spend thats worths alot what you think ?
the point of my post was not to judge wether 80 UV a day is a good amount of traffic. lets just talk about why my SERP ranking evaporated...
i've seen many cases here where a person gets a high position for a new site then it drops after a few weeks. some call it the "new site boost" and then google drops it in the SERPs and makes it earn it's way back to the top.
A new site often jumps up and down a lot. And when you loose the newbie-bonus you go down if you did not bild up content and backlinks.
Google Algorithm is really genius. I normally write any kind of news in my blog. Sometime a new posting become 1st ranking in given 'Keyword'. But in one or 2 days later the original content and ranking come back in place.... You know Google is Best... Ahamed Bauani http://www.bauani.org/
This normally happens for almost every blog or website. I had a website which ranked like yours on the first page for a day or two. After that it was no where to be seen. I didn't even get my inner pages when I searched for "site:myblog.com" in google. But in a couple of days, it came back to normal and it ranks in second position or so in google search now. Not a problem as far as I know.
