Os it possible to manage placement within an ad? If not, is there any better method to test the best placements for your ads?
I've been trying to optimize my ads, but apparently I got them worse than before. I tried to limit irrelevant clicks on my ads, thus I wanted to try other placements in different ads. At the same time, I changed the keywords match from exact to phrase match. Here, I've listened to Google and replace the keyword match instead of adding phrase match to exact. Clicks and impressions went down to zero. Actually, I have no idea what to do now - create different ads for search and display, play with keyword matches, placements or anything else. I have 11 ad groups, pretty tight organized. Any advice would be welcome.
you can have google automatically manage your ads. it's in the campaign settings i think. most people prefer to manually manage their ads, as it results in lower costs most of the time. if your impressions dropped to zero, its possible your ad may have been slapped. check the info balloon next to your keyword and see what it says.
Thanks tacopalypse. I checked the keywords balloons - most of them say "yes - the ads are showing right now". I have no idea where they're showing as the impressions are very poor. Some say "Although your ad is showing, its rank is not high enough to place it on the first page of search results." and "This keyword isn't triggering ads to appear on Google right now." - I suppose this is due to the low budget, which I didn't want to increase before I'm sure that my ads are properly set. Do you think that just raising the budget alone would make the change?
