Unreal....... If he had commited murder he might get a lighter sentence!! http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/ne...2F37838AFD546C9A8625736D000B589F?OpenDocument
That law is screwed up, and they know it. It pisses me off that pedophiles and murderers get off with a lesser time compared to petty crimes. manslaughter gets more time than murderers get sometimes!
That's stupid.. he even offered to give back the doughnut, but she pulled his arm. she started the assult.
I'm not sure what the law is in Missouri, but in my state (Oklahoma), it isn't even a felony until you reach a $50.00 item and the majority of the time it isn't a felony if it is your first offense even if it is home burglary.
Did you read the rest of the story? The guy is a repeat offender. He doesn't sound like a nice guy. Sure the doughnut isn't a big deal by itself, but then he assaulted a 54 year-old woman in his attempt to get away with his doughnut. And given his prior history, yeah, they are going to come down hard on him. Technically it is "a second-degree robbery, a class B felony" So he COULD get 30 years to life. But he won't. They will plead it out and he'll end up with a year's probation or something else more appropriate for the crime.
What the hell is wrong with some Laws? I mean in Canada you can face 4 years for taking a stamp off a letter and putting it on yours. Some child abusers gets less then that ( but thats usually because of a screwy judge)
Just taking a doughnut is shoplifting but he assaulted someone too. I thought this story was crazy too. I looked up his court records and he has seen the inside of jail before. Weed, stalking, and well there's a few others too that he got busted for. Click here and enter his name to find his court records
Crimanal is always criminal. some of them need to be punish hard. especially those who never learned anything even after put in prison.
