I was running some Chitika test code to see how it looked, etc., used the default to begin with and then initiated some contextual code and f*** me! It served up highly-contextually appropriate products on the test page ... on my computer. I hadn't even uploaded it to the server. I'm officially impressed.
Great, I got no experience with contextual Chitika ads yet, because I run adsense on most pages, but will give it a try!
I've been VERY happy with how fast Chitika malls are able to load up and they target very well. I was using the eBay product kit for serving up a block based on keywords but it was terribly slow most of the time and not always relevant.
I have always had good luck with Adsense serving me up ads fairly quickly. But Chitika seems to do a fairly good job as well.
Speaking of contextual ads for Chitika, how do you implement them? The default is set to show non-contextual ads. I want to try out the targeting on some non-Adsense pages, but can't figure out where the code for contextual ads is.
You need to read the info when you are setting up the ad box. There's a link from there to a page which gives all of the categories, then you choose to add words instead of the defaults: https://chitika.com/catalog.php
Actually, that is for the non-contextual mode. I have, however, found this on the information page: I've emailed them and will report back on the results.
Hi, I emailed chitika support about contextual ads, and they told me that even if you enable contextuals in the code, it doesn't matter cause this option is available only to premium publishers. D.
I got a a question about Chitika... I couldn't find the answer on their site... Do you get paid also for items sold kind of like Amazon or is it just the PPC... And if so how much?
Just PPC email2k. The amount per click varies. personally depending on the products I have and their bidded amount I have received not less than 20c and as high as $1.15 for a click but averaging around 70c.
