Most of us think Columbine was one of the first school disasters, but check out this account of the Bath School Disaster for another horrifying incident that occurred in 1927! http://home.nycap.rr.com/useless/bath/index.html
The point being many of us tend to think these types of things are only happening "today", when in reality, violence has been a part of the human landscape since recorded history... it's just better reported now.
I am an American, I chose to stuff my face with fast food, and maintain a short-term memory. That is why only events in the past 14 days are important to me. Every time I see a raincoat clad, boob reporter standing outside in a storm, I think it's the end of the world, since I cannot remember there was rain and storm prior to two weeks ago. That's why every time there is a storm, more people stand in line to buy plywood. What happened to the plywood they bought only two weeks prior, they forgot where they left it. Besides, when was 1927? I don't even recognize those first two numbers. tom
I agree, people constantly rant that the world is getting more dangerous every day and it's not safe for kids to go to school anymore and blah blah. Same stuff happened back then, only there wasn't a new crew looking to make a headline from some small Podunk town everytime something bad happens. Alot of people are afraid to fly on a plane because they here about the plane crashes... what if everytime there was a car crash it was reported on the news?
That story from 1927 is quite different than the Columbine massacre. Maybe people would be more careful?
Crazy Rob isn't afraid of planes... he just falls asleep on them like he falls asleep on everything else...
