The best way to find a dog is to go see the litter and the first one that comes running to you while the rest of them just mill around, will be your dog, be it male or female.
Go for the female dog and if you are not very particular about having pups, spay it. Thus you can avoid male dogs roaming around it...
It depends on the breed, but either or they both just as good, and with they type of dog its going to need training.
Here, we have shops which sell fish aquariums, plants, dogs,etc... I want to get the puppy from their.
for me a male dog is much easier to tame and once that dog is tamed he can protect you and certain situations.
I have 4 dogs and am big time dog lover/breeder. If you are looking for a dog for security and training purposes, go for a male dog. but female dog is much more affectionate and better companion. it will understand everything in your routine life and act according to that. But get her sterilize if you dont want mess and other unwanted dogs. also the kind of dog you want also depends on its breed. which breed you are looking for. I would advice you to buy a pup from a litter which is new born, book it in the letter, from my experience pet shop dogs are prone to some diseases.
Females are smarter, i think. Plus they don't have nasty dog penises (what I call Lipstick haha) that hang out all over the place. *gag*
9.6 million dogs are put to death in shelters in the US each and every year. Whether you decide on a male or female, please spay or neuter your dog. In addition, many pet shops support puppy mill operations, and I would encourage you to consider saving a puppy or dog from the pound. Regardless whether it's a male or female, this dog will just want to be your best friend for the next 15 or so years.
Many of these types of places buy their dogs from "puppy mills" If you're serious about getting a dog, do some research and buy one from a registered breeder, or from a rescue organization.
I am against puppy mills as well, however even a 'registered breeder' can be bad and in fact on par if not the same as a puppy mill. I also find the 'don't buy a puppy mill' puppy illogical, yes you do not want to support the puppy mill, but in the same breath you are also saying you wont give a puppy mill puppy a chance, leaving it to rot with your own high almighty thoughts. All puppies deserve a chance, be it from the pound, pet store, breeder, or simply from a family pet who had puppies.
You're missing the point of avoiding puppy mills. If people don't buy dogs from puppy mills, then there is no need for them to exist. Puppy Mills are a creation created by demand... And regarding your comment on the breeder. If people do just a bit of research, they will be able to know if the breeder is reputable. A good breeder will supply references...
No I'm missing nothing, I get that point, the problem with that train of thinking however is in order to do any damage to the puppy mill via supply and demand puppies from said puppy mills all left to rot, making your train of thinking just as bad as the puppy mill IMO. Ahh yes 'references' the breeder I bought through had great references, licensed up the yazoo, didn't change the fact that I have had an extremely disappointing experience with said breeder, references and licensing and all.
