I already have 50 unique articles coming from forum post that I have archived on my computer. I'm thinking about making one, but since there are a bunch of other article sites out there and since I'm not doing a niche, I don't know whether this type of site would be profitable.
No hurt in not trying man.. even if you end up only getting $1/day after 3 months that's still $30/month!
There are too many article directories right now, not a very interesting area as far as I am concerned. You have a better chace of survival if you concentrate on any interesting niche, general articles have a less chance. Also, you really need unique articles, not the one passed around everywhere. One of my client added an article dir. she purchased to her site which was doing okay. the result, she got penalised by google for duplicate content, now all her pages are in supplimentary results
Apparently there is now an interest in alternative energy/fuel since petrol pumps now have to employ a guy just to change the price label (according to a recent comic) for multiple changes within a short period of time. Joke aside, I think articles related to alternative energy/fuel will attract graet interest. The only problem is that it is a highly specialised subject and I wonder who the advertisers are and whether high-priced Adsense ads would be served.
Yep, you're damn right, you have to find a niche, but that niche must be large enough to attract enough advertisers.
Mine is made during March this year, it's growing gradually and making more and more although it's still little, only covering my hosting. Have a try and see how it goes.
beeweb, I have about 5 pages featuring alternative energy/fuel and teasers in my blog. Those pages are not making any money yet but are great in attracting traffic for my other pages. I guess there are not many pages talking about the subject. I have no interest in Shiloh but forced myself to publish a blog about Jolie's baby. The blog had been generating hundreds of visits. Same story - won't be making any more but the traffic will spill over to my other pages.
