Making the monitor less damaging/straining on the eyes

Besides keeping your distance about 1 meter away from the screen, what else can you do to lessen the amount of strain/damage the screen does to your eyes? Are there any products you can buy especially for this case? (Maybe a screen you can attach onto the monitor to lessen the glare?)

Just wondering because I spend quite alot of time in front of the computer. :p

I use a Pure Light to reduce eye strain with its full spectrum light and to counter the effect of radiation/positive ions with its negative ion generator.

Does anyone actually take the recommended 15 minute break every 2 hours?

I got my eyes tested a few months ago and apparently I am now slightly short sighted.

Thanks for that link. Seems very interesting. I'm liking the abundance of features:

Price seems fair, but they don't ship to Australia :(

I think you should have the screen bright enough, a good resolution not one of those crappy old monitors that flickers, & enough light in the room you are working in

You can get Full Spectrum bulbs without the ion generator and Negative Ion generators without the bulb. Neither should cost a fortune. This one just cleverly combines the two but you will get the same effect with two separate devices.

This helped me when I had a problem a while back :D Breaks every 15 minutes help too (all you need to do is take a few seconds off to focus on something else besides your monitor!)
