making the intangible tangible

    Good afternoon

For the moment I'm doing my training period in a company specialized in karting software. (eg cashier software, timing software, kiosk etc)
Ofcourse software is intangible (you can't hold or see it. It just runs on a pc)
And as the company only sells licenses and not give the physical cd, we really sell 'nothing' if you know what I mean however customers pay thousands of euro's.

Now my question is, do you have ideas how I can make the software or the service we lend, more tangible? And believe me, I've spend hours on Google.
For now I've about twinty ideas, going from small to large (eg a virtual karting on the website, a thank you note, a (corporate)video on the website, service cards, ..)
If someone can contribute something, please let me know.

    Kind regards
    Andy

as you told you are selling licenses - so it will be some number or key that person has to enter in order to get verified - why dont you send the license key in the letter - so that you will have a tangible information of product that is sent...

    hope this helps...

This is a very tricky thing. I understand where you are coming from. You want to protect yourself and have something tangible to represent the intangible software you are selling. I agree with the code or key. This may be a way of also keeping record of the number of software you send. Maybe customer #1 can have code number 0001 and so on. This way you are keeping a list and at the same time are sending the thank you letter (WHICH IS A MUST) with this code in it.

Why do you want to make it more "tangible?"

To sell more? Or to make your customers feel better? Or to reduce refunds? etc?

To be honest I don't know in which way they give the key. Maybe that requires some thinking as you all said, thank you.
And why we want to make it more tangible is indeed to make the customer feel better. And I'm sure it will.
Another thing we want, is to make our service more tangible.
It's all part of a process we're carrying out. A way to improve ourselves and distinguish ourselves even more of the competition.
It's not an easy process, that's why I called in some help, but we will get there.
Thank you all for your share.
