Which version of Word are you using? In Word 2007, click References on the Tool bar and then select Table of Contents. In Word 2003, I think it's Insert > References > Table of Contents. But for both you need to you heading 1, heading 2, heading 3, etc. as these appear in the Table of Contents. Hope that helps
