Making my domain point to my server...

    Hey all.

After having some miss hap with CPanel, I reinstalled my servers OS without it. I installed Apache, PHP, curl, and mySQL and uploaded my website files. My site works fine but I need my domain to point to it.

I tried using http://zoneedit.com, I signed up, put in the domain, the server IP, done the A records etc... but after about 6 hours of waiting my domain still point nowhere.

I have set up the nameservers to point where they're meant to go too.

My server has only 1 IP, and I was told this is the only way to do it:rolleyes:

    Cheers.

have you done a whois on it to check the info of it?

also did you check the dns information and see what it is reporting?

use something like dnsstuff or something.

    hope it helps

    Hi,

Post your domain and your servers IP and I'll do a quick check to make sure you got DNS setup right.

It can take up to 48hrs for DNS changes to be visible.

Your IP is reporting as being located at: ks200128.kimsufi.com

If that's right then you're ok.

I have checked from dnsstuff and it seems that changes did not go through. Currently your domain is not poiting to any IP address. Try to point your domain again from domain registration control panel. Once you make the changes in A record it should be reflected in one-two minutes in dnsstuff.

Nothing's changed from my posting above.

I'm presumming you are using the hosting services of ovh.com - because the IP you list points to a server in their range of allocated IP's. As I said - if you've done it right then it'll take up to48hrs.

And I should add that it looks like you are using the nameservers of DYNADOT - so it is the NS's that need to be changed to point to your new hoster.
