Making Money with the Co-op

Discussion in 'Co-op Advertising Network' started by dct, Jul 14, 2005.

I just wondered who is making money using the Co-op and how they are doing it. I remember reading Shawn saying some members were making in excess of 100K monthly. I have used it to advertise affiliate links with very limited success is there some other way to generate revenue from the Co-op, without just promoting your own sites?

Shawn has a huge amount of weight to rank anything, I see his ads every other refresh or even like 5 refreshes in a row

Yeah I can't imagine Shawn's weight but from what I read he was talking about other members making serious money.

Most my weight is from referrals, but there are a few members with more weight than I have. I just don't have as many sites as they do to spread it around.

And yes, there are a lot of members making good money. But like anything, it's all about doing what everyone else ISN'T doing. :)

Well I dont think anyone will give secrets away, however a good idea already established can obvioulsy benefit from more traffic and higher serps, if you can already monetize what traffic you have then its an extra string to your bow.

I dont think its as much about the COOP as it is about your idea/service as Shawn has stated.

People tend to get so hung up on ranking for this and ranking for that that they tend to forget about converting visistors into customers. Traffic isn't worth ziltch if you can't capitalize on it.

How about doing SEO using coop weight, I mean not sell 'weight", which is against TOS, but do SEO for somebody else who want links building? I think it is not against TOS, as it says 'Do not buy or sell "weight"'.

Thanks Scott, that is an interesting idea and I'll certainly give it a try. It really goes to show how well this community works and how by helping others it can come back to you ten fold.

If you got suggestions, throw them my way, I'm up for experimenting with just about anything as this is a simple hobby of mine.

And as far as how I make money via the co-op, I'm split between CJ advertisers and Adsense. For awhile I tried going for some difficult terms since I have a good chunk of weight, but over time I continued to drop, so now I spread the weight over a variety of terms. Like I said, this is more of a hobby than anything as I still do want to work a day job (I've found to get bored at home a lot and without being able to interact with people that furthers the boredom).

Although the last few posts gave me one idea.

Scott and dct can write an eBook

"How I made millions with the Coop and how you can too!"

Make sure there is a picture of you with the check on your website and the sales copy goes on until the scrolling button on your mouse breaks

That reminds me of what happened yesterday. I was trying to talk a friend into partnering with me on a new site (he's really knowledagble about the subject) I was talking to him about the potential of the site being a 6 figure earner, to which he was a bit sceptical to say the least. Then he saw my Google cheque, he wasn't swayed by the amount but by the number of stars preceding the amount and could visualise the size that Google cheques can be :D

Back to the ebook, we'd have to title it "How you could of made millions with the Coop" too many cooks and all that :D

One of my friends was round recently just after my adsense EFT came through and when he saw August's figure he nearly choked, there are definitelly harder ways to make money and I have probably done a lot of them!

Ebook, wheely good idea eh DCT ;)

We could say how easy it is to make a 6 figure income and then sell it for, ooh I don't know... £3.95

I think we could probably push the boat out and ask for 4.95 or would that be wheely greedy.

Only if you pack it with ads and make it so vague no one understands it....and don't forget to sell it with "resell rights"
