Does anyone make money off other CJ advertisers other than ebay or amazon?. For example insurance, credit cards, loans, etc. I would really like to get some feedback, if you use any of these advertisers. thanks!
I make money off a foreclosure company. It relates well to one of my sites so it's a natural fit for my site visitors.
Of course people make money with other advertisers on CJ. I personally use many different advertisers on our main domain. Master Replicas, Think Geek, Entertainment Earth, etc. Whatever is relevant to the page/topic, and all the advertisers who sell a certain item. This way we can offer multiple choices for users, and tell them about shipping prices, taxes, etc to watch out for, or if a certain advertiser has a lifetime warranty or not. Diversify!
First of all, Amazon isn't a CJ advertiser... But yes... people make money with non-eBay advertisers.
The reason I asked was that I had my banners up for about 1 month and didn't get any activity from them at all. I will be trying a new approach with text links to see if that makes a difference. My guess is that banners tend to be more 'shove down your throat" than text links are. Text links can just be referred to us "resources". Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance
If I just didn't get married I'd be a millionaire today. That's a fact. I was getting into all this stuff (a little anyway) back in 1994. Ok, other things happened to distract me but I got married in 1999 and until just after Katrina hit, when my better half flew away.. nah.. just kidding. It was the oil price increases that had me thinking, "Hey, a lot of folk are gonna need more money this coming winter. A lot of people are going to be pissed at the high gasoline prices. So, I haven't gotten back into looking at Commission Junction again yet, but I did purchase the domain name GasolineIncome.com and I'm starting to rocknroll.
Amazon is my biggest earner and by far my favorite... I recommend everyone to steer away from eBay because of too many problems to list here.. My best advice is to promote Amazon via PPC and to specifically target books since those have nice payouts.... I spend a few hours a day looking up ALL sorts of books, new ones, old ones, best sellers, international favorites, not so popular ones......etc and you wouldn't believe the moolah one can make doing this
I've never gotten on with CJ - being a UK publisher they make it difficult for you to get on there without the requisite tax forms. The amount of time I wasted trying to get the right tax clearances for them led to me ditching them full stop. They weren't much help.
We I have many clients that are CJ merchants and several have cut individual commission checks for over $$10K a month. So yes there are lots of good programs on CJ that pay out well for affiliates. The key is to find programs that convert well, match your audience and are parasite-free, although CJ is getting progressively better at weeding out some of the parasites, they still have some. And yes, text link convert better than banners typically.
Check the EPC conversion stats. for each advertiser. That way you can see how converts and who doesn't. Don't join new affiliate programs when they start out. Wait 'til their EPC stats. are released, otherwise you could be advertiser a non-converter.
I make good money with one of the advertisers however I will note that they offer simialar products and we incorporate them into the site to look natural.
