I use Amazon to make money online. I used to have a seasonal site that made me quite a lot of money. Amazon is great, you have to concentrate on getting traffic on your website and from there send people to Amazon. Nothing beats Amazon on converting visitors to buyers. I had people buy TV-s when I was selling toys on my website just because they entered Amazon, and from there Amazon took care of them. Yes its true that Amazon pays small per sale, but it pays, and they are good at converting, so If you get the traffic to them, they will get the sales.
I make and sell high quality and high conversion amazon websites. I make an average of 16% conversion. I really hate the 24 hour cookie also.
Hi I also hate 24h cookie policy of Amazon. Amazon, Clickbank are suitable for sites but CJ, Shareasales are suitable for sites that have high brand name and visitors. rgs
Yes the cookie is 24 hours but if they add an item to the cart the purchase window for that item is extended to something like 30 days. Also, Amazon just opened up MyHabit to Amazon account holders so promoting that could be a good idea right now.
I earn 4 figures per month even with the 24 hour cookie. If you target the right products and the right people and the right portion of the buying cycle, promoting Amazon becomes very easy and very lucrative.
Or if you are in the Health Care niche...none of the other affiliate programs have any "actual products" to deliver the guy who needs an immediate solution to his medical condition (like sleep apnea, acid reflux, snoring, etc.). Talking about a market that is "motivated" to buy!!! As an AZ supplier of my patented product into these markets, I get to see the hour my orders are placed...2:00am or 3:00am (buyer's time zone). It goes to reason that the poor guy could not sleep due to his X medical condition and got online to find a solution to his problem. Motivated buyer at best. Good selling to all.
Amazon's conversion rate is #1. Black hat affiliates cannot steal your cookie, efforts work as happens so often with others. Some AZ small vendors are willing to give separate incentives to top affiliates who promote their products. 8.5% + high conversion + special deals = best program there is.
As they were the first online company to have an affiliate program about 16 years ago they don't have to change anything. 24 hours is not a long time, but the majority of people who are interested in buying any product usually come back within a day to buy.
And if Amazon had a 30 day cookie everyone would be mad because they did not get credit for the sale from their site because another person's cookie was already set from a month ago. Write, or have written very good and complete reviews, so the visitor has no questions left about the product. I have even called manufacturers to get more specs for a product that could not be found online anywhere. Write for the reader, not the SE's. Michael
Amazon is better than others - people are more likely to buy from them as they are very reputable. Yeah the cookie is 24 hours but you can get sales of other products at the same time versus just the one you are selling. You might also want to check out Endless as the commission is a bit higher and they are thru Amazon too...
Amazon is much reputed and it makes us easy to sell its products, its commission starts from 4% to 25%, 25% is only on magazines sold.
Hi cigam1, From my experience Amazon is better than Commission junction. But I suggest you to choose a option that you feel comport.
Amazon is the place to be if you want to have a successful affiliate business and drive targeted traffic towards your product promotions.
