I know there are thousands of proxy's out there, but I was thinking of making one and marketing it, could I still make some decent money? What should I know before working with a proxy? I am 100% unfamiliar with this type of website and this is my next venture.
I have seen information on proxy's from time to time but no one has ever said what they are. Let me know/
Proxies let you browse anonymously- get passed web filters. You can make money off em, sticking adbrite on proxified pages and adsense on the main page.
I think the tough part is monetizing effectively it so that you can still profit after paying for hosting costs, since you'll probably need a lot of bandwidth to accommodate all of your users. I'm testing out a fantasy sports offer right now on my proxy site. I figure people that are looking for ways to waste time on restricted computers (school, work) would probably be interested in that sort of thing.
I made $11 on a good day with my proxy when I used to run them using PayPopUp and that was without adsense!
It's possible to make good money from proxies. I currently have 5, 2 of which are set up, and I'm averaging at around $0.60 per day each. This might not sound like a lot, but I haven't advertised them at all, and when I advertise them I plan to make around $1 per day each proxy, which means $5 per day in total, so $25 per week for a little bit of advertising. I'll then reinvest into more proxies and advertise more. My long term goal is to make around $20 per day from proxies alone...
There is a nice article here: http://phpnoob.net/?p=196 It gives some hints how to minimize expenses for proxy hosting and how to optimize the revenue from AdSense clicks...
There's SOME money in proxies, but I wouldnt say it's the best thing to do. I get about $5 / day on a small proxy site.
My impression is it takes a HUGE amount of bandwidth, it's easy to get traffic through it but your AdSense clicks won't be worth much, so try to get paid based on impressions (or something that doesn't require the user to interact anyways.
Yes you can't have plenty of clicks with proxy business since most of the folks who are looking for proxies are internet savvy hombres. Therefore, you have a ton of users but unfortunately you couldn't convert your traffic into cash.
Yes. You can make money with proxy because they get blocked regularly and are always in demand. Well I have an ebook about proxies which is free to share. If anyone of you guys want it you can drop me a PM with your email address.
Yes but you need work hard to competate with establish proxy You can hire a person to make the proxy for you at cheap price
Maybe premium is the future for proxies, I don't think much is going to allow them soon. There traffic is preity much worthless.
You can make quite a bit of money with proxies, after all hidemyass is valued at like $400,000. You just need to make it look as professional as possible and not just focus on sticking a bunch of ads all over the place.
Lots of good reading for proxy owners here: http://www.skinmyproxy.com/proxy-guides.php Valued by whom? I have a few sites I'd like to sell them.
Proxies are ten a penny and are short term sites. If you want something you can start from scratch and grow it and in the end be proud of it dont do a proxy. They are used by friends etc but are hard to market as they are all the same. I have 2 and they made like $5 for about a weeks work. I'd sell them but it's not worth the hassle as it's rare for people to want to buy them as they are so cheap to set up.
bad economic condition. i advice ou keep the money or invest in some better niche. there are thousands of proxies.
