Making Money Online

So like many people, I like the idea of making money online. For a couple of years I have been buying and selling on ebay and making a decent amount of money (Not that much, but for the age of 16 its not bad)

Recently I have been reading about selling eBooks on eBay..It seemed tempting with all the automation...but its more than likely to turn out a load of sh*t.

Then there's Adsence. On average, how much money do you make per week with it? And what needs to be done to maximise what you can make with adsense?

Can anyone reccomend any other online sources of income?

As I am leaving school soon, I have a lot of time on my hands. So I want to use this time to make £$£$£.

''Can you really make over £100 a week online?''

    Hi Zach

To answer your last question first, yes you can make over £100 a week on line, it is possible to earn 100 times that if you work at it, this will not be achievable over night but with time and effort £500 – 1000 a week should be a realistic target for you.

This is the best forum I have found to answer your questions on adsense earning, just take some time and read the old posts to do with positioning the ads and finding good markets to get in to I have learned more here than from any ebook I have ever bought.

If you have knowledge of a subject, for example how to do well playing computer games, then you could write your own ebook explaining to others how to do the same and then sell that via ebay, click bank or your own site, this way all the profits are yours and it only takes 10 sales a week at £10 a sale to hit your target.

Selling other peoples products is also a possibility, you could use an affiliate site such as click bank or commission junction, see the affiliate section of this forum for more great advice on how to do this.

I think the most important thing to do before you start is some research and decide what it is you wish to do to start earning online and what skills you need to allow you to get started, for example can you design and build websites, can you drive traffic to those sites, can you write ebooks do you need to be over 18 to open a click bank, commission junction or adsense account?

I hope this has given you something to start working on and I wish you all the best with your online trading.

If you study and learn and build you could earn an infinite amount of money online with the right ideas of your own.

Yes, and when you get there you aim to do £100 per day and when you get there you keep pushing the boundaries and your goals.

Being 16 may be a problem. But eBay is 18+ and I manage to trade their without any problems.

As for building websites, I made a site with photoshop and dreamweaver for my radio station, http://www.vibezfm.co.uk/ . But its all been self taught, so im not that good.

Will I need to learn about PHP ect? or will HTML be ok?

I have a few ideas for content, and am thinking about making 2-3 websites. Can I have multiple websites with one web hosting account?

Thanks for the advice. before I jump into it, im going to do some research and decide what is best to start with.

One website to boot, on a topic you care for with regular updates and fresh content is probably easier to manage. Once you're off the ground with that first one, you should consider diversifying with sites on other topics.

I think the key to building a good website, which will get good search engine rankings and a solid AdSense income, is to choose a topic you're interested in. Ask yourself: "Would I create this website even if AdSense didn't exist?" If the answer is yes, you will probably continue to build it even after a week or two when you realize you didn't make over £100 the first week. Patience is important in the webmaster business.

Oh, and definitely learn PHP. It will make things a lot easier.

#1. Don't quit school, no matter how much $$$ you make. :)
(always have something to fall back on, preferably Law or Medicine!)

You can make a lot of money online, whether it's AdSense, Ebay or affiliate programs... the cash is there.

If you want to make money with AdSense you need traffic and the easiest way to get traffic is to have a website with quality content. If there is a topic (your radio station) that you are passionate about, or have a lot of knowledge of, make websites about that.

If you do not have great webdesign skills then you would be wise to use templates, blog software or a CMS:

www.oswd.org <= OpenSource (free) web templates
    www.opensourcecms.com <= Free CMS/Blog/Forum software reviews
www.blogger.com <= free blogspace, the easiest way to start (free hosting)

Now that you have chosen a format for your website, you need to add the content, then a few ads and spread the word.

If you keep adding content and telling people about your website, you will eventually get a lot of traffic and therefore increase your chances of generating revenue.

Once you have the traffic, play around with your ad layouts/colours until you optimize them for $$$.

That's about it, you'll pick up more hints and info as you build/promote your site.

Im not quitting school, just leaving high school...then going to college.

But I want to be creative with the time I have on my hands.

I might make a fansite for glasgow celtic football club (the team I support). They have the second biggest worldwide fanbase, next to real madrid, which means garenteed interest. And I have enough knowledge about the club to create masses of content.
Also to go with the site, a blog that will contain match reports and video highlights.

This is my no1 idea at the moment, but I have others.

Sell them via clickbank, you can then start ebay listings to gain visibility.

Starting at 15-16 is the best, I have created two websites and then forgot about them, two years later I remembered I had them. I also noticed a green bar on the toolbar, it was halfway full, I read up what it means and found out it meant pr 5. I read somewhre it was "a ok". So I added couple more sites, slapped a couple adsense ads on there... and now getting $xx,xxx anually for misc expenses, making money online is great.

keep up the good work Zach

You can have multiple websites depending on who you are hosting through. This is totally dependent on your host.

Experience will make you a good web designer. I would undoubtedly recommend learning php. There are a lot of us that are completely self taught. Believe me that if you do it enough, you will get good at it. This goes for html, php, web services, or whatever else you study. As long as you have interest in it and practice as much as possible you can get good.

Also study web usability, online copywriting, SEO, and marketing. These are just as important to the whole picture as web design.

    Resources I would recommend are:
    Call to Action - book
    Persuasive Online Copywriting - book
    Content Critical - book
    Bulletproof Web Design - book

Rand Fishkins Seomoz Blog - seomoz.org
    SEO Book - seobook.com
    This and Other Forums
    Clickz Network - clickz.com

You can get used books at amazon for really cheap, and the internet has everything you will ever need as far as information goes.

Oh Yeah, Earning over $100 per week should be easily done just by following this forum and alot of focus.

Adsense would be an easy way to do it, and there are many ways to tackle the adsense world also.

But there are hundreds of ways to do it.

Set small goals first and then build from there, find what it takes you to make $10 per day then multiply your effort by however much you want to earn.

Ultimately you could create your own products, which leads into a new level of profit. :)

My best advice is not to assume that making any money online will be easy.

99% of the people out there are trying to go the easy route.

I'm 19, almost a year out of highschool. I typically spend 4-9 hours a day working online making original content and learning new things. I've opted to wait a few years to go to college until I figure out exactly what I want to do.

Its worked out well so far. In less than 6 months, I hope to be making more than my parents. :D

Learn hard. Work harder. Earn harder.

I can assure you that it's possible.
I started back in 2002 and these days I make a living out of all my websites, both adult and mainstream.
    But it's a long road
