I'm currently working on my first big site, which will be torrent search engine. As far as profiting from it, I'm not sure what to do. Right now, I see 3 main options: Adsense(and keep the site) Sell the script Sell the site once it gets traffic What are the advantages of each of these? As I said, this will be my first large(hopefully) site, and I'm curious.
Well adsense is pretty much guaranteed cash as long as google is cool with torrent sites (in other words they aren't mad about advertising on possibly illegal sites). Also adsense is a good investment for the short term and long term. While selling the script will get your cash fast, it means that it may be harder in the future to make money since you will have more competition using your technology. If you want to sell the site, you are going to want to make sure you are selling it at the peek of it's life. In other words you aren't going to want to sell it, if the site is going to be worth more later. Cheers, Paul
As your "first big site" i guess you are putting a lot of time and effort into it. Personally i would want to keep it and carry on developing it and get a nice continual income. However if you feel your skills lay in design and not marketing, then perhaps selling the script on to someone who can get maximum potential out of the site will be more benficial for yourself. Tom
