And I am here wasting my time with my sites when I could be playing online games and earning millions http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3135247.stm
I read something about this a while ago - It's crazy huh... Someone sold some real estate on ebay for one of these games for something crazy like $20,000! Man, that just seems nuts - but whatever...
I played Diablo for a while, and could never understand people actually offering money on EBay for magic items in the game.... that is taking it a leeetle too far for my tastes....
Diablo response: How about contracts put on players and you have to bring back their ear as proof? Too weird! tom
Don't underestimate the pull online games can have. I have sold a lots of virtual items on an RPG site I frequent, but not for real money just RPG cash, but other players go nuts for good items. It probably wouldn't be too hard to ask for real cash $$$$$$$$.
wow, why wonder bbc news rocks! What?! what game?! dude... I wonder if I can sell usernames lmfao, I've had some nice ones.
Believe? You can see the vidence all over EBay of such transactions going on. it doesn't take an act of faith
I did this for warcraft when it first came out. Offered starting chars at lvl 20 on any server/race/. I put the BIN at 550$ per copy and put it on ebay. I sold 20 in the 1st day and canceled the auction. I had to buy several more computers and hire some local gamers but we cranked the chars and accounts out fast. It took about 20 hours total to get to lvl 20. Course it was really busy the first day the game was launched. I then offered leveling services for a while but soon was outmatched by the chinese who seem to do it for pennies per hour. I cant compete with that. So back to my other stuff The profit after all expenses in 5 days after starting was just shy of 7250$
I don't play too many games - but I purchased GuildWars last month. My kids started playing with it, and have become expert, they just purchased a second copy on eBay at a big discount to have more characters to play. One of my kids can take a new character and get him up to top level in a day. He found someone else who is bored with playing, and plans on buying their account number for $10 - then he will spend a day building a character up, and resell the game[account number] + character and make big money. Weird. There was an article in Wired about someone hiring cheap labour in Mexico and they sat and played all day, acquiring treasure in some game, and selling it on eBay for real money.
I played Asheron's Call for a couple of years, and made a thousand or so from selling my excess on ebay (after paying for my gaming fees), and i was a pretty casual gamer. I never played with the specific intent of selling, I just goofed off and sold off the stuff i found that i didn't need (and my friends didn't need) on ebay. Ended up selling my account when i finally got bored with the game for the umpteenth time. VG
i can believe it, alot of people that is all they do is game, i used to be one of them, its alot easier to buy the stuff then to spend 2 weeks questing for it!
