Ofcourse! If your site gets traffic, you can make money from it. But I suggest that you atleast need to get your own domain name. Because once your earnings start growing and you your traffic increases, you may wish to go for a paid hosting.

And if you have your own domain, you will not lose your old visitors when you move to a paid host or may be your own server .

If you can afford a $7/year for the domain and around $3-4 per month for hosting your website, I suggest that you go for it. It will proove to be a good deal on the long run, you'll see.

Definently get yourself some cheap hosting. It is worth it in the long run. Hosting is so cheap, you can find a package for any budget.

It is a good idea to start off with free hosting/no domain as you build up your content. As your traffic and earnings increase then you can buy a domain and what not.

You can buy a domain name. It is not so costlier. You can do some forum posting on B/S/T section and buy a domain easily. I recommand to go for paid hosting. I can help if you need.

    thanks

I don't think any free hosts don't let you place your own ads.

I allow my users to place their own ads there.

Better start with a domain name with free hosting, lots of offers are here. But this is important that you must get a domain name. Becasue once you start getting the visitors, you can convert them into $$$. There are lot more to earn from...
    1) Google Ads
    2) Link Exchange
    3) Offering Ad Space
    and lot more....

This is fine to start with that, but once you want to move with your own domain name, then what... how would you direct your existing visitors to your new website. This is always good to start with your own domain name. it's just 50c/PM not more. Even you can get some more cheap deals.

I honestly suggest you don't use shorturls like cjb.net and .tk because they have popunders that are really annoying and people will stop visiting your website. Start with something like uni.cc until you get some money from Adsense, you can get a .com from Yahoo for $1.99 for your first year. Or you can try get somebody to sponsor you on a forum like this, tell them you will give them some kind of advertising in exchange for a domain name. Just be patient and don't beg for anything from somebody who is interested in helping you, or they will start ignoring you.

Of course....once you get your domain name, you can have it hosted for free but sometimes the hosting company will put their adverts on your site and will ask you to pay a small fee to have the adverts removed.
If you are on a limited budget, this works out ok......

It all depends of how ready your site is. If you done your homework and you are ready to do some serious definitely paid hosting, otherwise, while building content and PR and stuff, you could use free host.

If you are really on budget, get an .info domain and look for some of the free hostings that are sprouting up.

I made approximately $3500 in 6 months from a blogspot blog. All from selling blog posts and blogroll links. PPP & DP played major parts in the earnings.
