This is a very good thread first off.

Mr Crow, you say that you do press releases and the like. Do you pay the money to make sure it gets published or do you just submit a whole lot of free ones?

Also, as far as being able to show the goods before you make the sale, for all of your clients have you driven a significant portion of their traffic before even approaching them? That seems like an awful lot of hit or miss. If you spend all the time and money to get them good targetted traffic, what happens when you come up to them and they say no? Wasted time? I think so.

Wouldn't some kind of portfolio work well as an anchor for what you are doing?

In the beginiing you must kinda have some hit or misses - after a short while everyone is seeking you , and yes a portfolio is a must using some well known business people as reference is important ..

Suggestion : do a couple well know business mans website for free by telling him that you need to get your foot in the door and if you do well will he write a recomendation for you and tell his business friends - - then just watch how many of his friends you can get with a personal recommendation

Is it alot of work - yes - is it worth it - yes - but if you consider the thought that if for 2 months you chose 1 business every 2 weeks and did them really cheap just to get in the door - that is actually a small investment compared to opening a store, stocking it , advertising and taking a huge risk..... this way I am telling you is actually much much cheaper and more reliable
