Suggestion Making It Easier To Switch USERNAMEs

    I know this would help a lot of people. People change business, ownerships, or just plain want a new nickname for their favorite forum. If it is a problem with shutting down the database for 5 minutes each time someone wants to change their username, then accept requests over the next X number of days or weeks for anyone who wants their name changed and what they want it changed to, and then shut down the database for a one-time 5 minute thing. It wouldn't be a big deal for DP to be down for 5 minutes and a lot of users would be happier.:)

    Changing usernames results in the use of massive amounts of database resources due to all the rewrites involved.

    It's not a one time shutdown to do as many changes as you want, it's a cumulative time for all the changes. Either way, no... Your username is yours for life.
