Hoping someone can help me. I have a client who has a domain that is hosted by one hosting company that he is happy with. The domain is a .co.uk He also owns the .co which as we know is much better for international coverage. Now I had him set things up at 1and1 so the .co (HTTP) redirected to the host where his .co.uk is but as soon as somone lands there the .co.uk URL is put in place over the the .co which is not what we need as we need his domain to appear as his .co.uk as it is set up elsewhere and also to show as a .co when that URL is used to access the site/. Sadly the registrar where the client has the domain is 1and1 but that said surely even a registrar as bad as 1and1 must have a way to allow a .co.uk hosted and loaded site display as a .co with a domain name registered with them don't they?
I am not starting a rant here about 1and1... but many people have problems with them, especially with transfering domains out. I would personally say... get out while you can, there are better options
Believe you me I have told my client about 1and1 and advised him to get things moved elsewhere until I am blue in the face "Guide" but to to avail. If you Google the right things about 1and1 you will find threads I have started about how bad 1and 1 are on page one of both Google and Bing. However that doesn't help me sort my clients present simple problem out. Though I think I have that sussed now but need to wait til Tuesday and when he returns to work after Bank Holiday to see if what I have sussed out works
